Steven Robert Van Pelt of Sharon, raised in Needham, passed away peacefully after a long illness surrounded by family on January 2, 2017. Beloved husband of 37 years to Sharon (Cornick)Van Pelt and father to Nichole (Van Pelt) and Richard Wunder, Thomas and Allison (Luck) Van Pelt, and Christopher Van Pelt and Kimberly Cullen. Cherished Grampy to his granddaughter, Rosalie Van Pelt. Devoted son of the late Willis and Ruth (Knuckles) Van Pelt of Needham. He was a devoted brother to the late Mary Lynn Mills. He is also survived by his sister Pamela Morgan and brother, Phillip Van Pelt, and many dear brother and sister-in-laws. Steven is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, and many beloved friends.

He was a proud graduate of University of Massachusetts, Amherst and earned his MBA at Babson College, going on to spend his career in business in the procurement field. Steven enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, relaxing at the beach, and being outside in the neighborhood. He was an active member of Our Lady of Sorrows parish in Sharon as a CCD teacher, member of numerous committees, and a continuous bible study participant. Starting as a young adult, Steven always enjoyed volunteering and giving back. His longest volunteer commitment was to the Pine Street Inn. He will be greatly missed by all of the lives he touched.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, January 5th from 4-7pm at Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave, Needham, MA. Funeral will be held on Friday, January 6th at 11:30am at St. Joseph's Parish 1382 Highland Ave, Needham, MA.
