Robert Davidson "Bob" Lowden, of Palm Beach FL and Sebago Lake ME, formerly of Needham, passed away on Friday, December 29, 2017. He was 80 years old

Born in Boston, he was the son of the late G. Stanley and Georgie Davidson Lowden. Mr. Lowden was a graduate of Needham High School Class of 1955 and Williams College Class of 1959. His first love was hockey and he played both at Needham High and Williams College. He also played hockey for the Needham Rockets town team in the early 1960's, the Arlington Arcadians of the Mass Amateur League, Framingham Pics of the New England Semi Professional League and The Boston Merchants Senior Hockey. Bob was also a talented football player and played for Needham High, Williams College, the Morrissey Club of Quincy and the Portland Seahawks of the Atlantic Coast League. Mr. Lowden retired from John Hancock Mutual Insurance Company as Senior Vice President and Actuary. An avid golfer, Bob was a member of Charles River Country Club in Newton Centre, Pinetree Golf Club in Boynton Beach FL, Breakers Club in Palm Beach, Portland Country Club in Portland ME and the Mid Ocean Club in Hamilton, Bermuda.
The husband of the late Beverly C. (Stone) Lowden, he is survived by his sister, Martha Scarlett and her husband David, his two nephews William Scarlett and his wife Amy and their two daughters Lillian and Vivian and Matthew Scarlett and his wife Leslie and their two children Ainsley and Lowden.
A luncheon celebrating Bob's life will be held at the Charles River Country Club, 483 Dedham St, Newton Centre, on Saturday, February 10th at 12 noon. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
