Richard C. Hurley, of Sarasota FL and Marstons Mills, formerly of Newton died on Dec 4, 2015 with his daughter and son at his side. He was 83.

Dick was born in Newton and graduated from Mt. Alvernia Academy and St. Sebastian's Country Day School. He attended NY Military Academy, Georgetown Univ. and graduated in 1954 from the Mass Maritime Academy. Dick was the president of Waterfront Service Co., which was started by his father and supplied ships from their location on the Boston waterfront. Dick loved the sea, had published the Merchant Marine Guide, was past president of the National Assoc. for the Prevention of Blindness, past president of the Foreign Commerce Club and secretary of the Board of Trustees of the Mass Maritime Foundation.

Husband of the late Donna (Ross) Hurley. Loving father of Kara Ryan and her husband Steve and their children Sabrina and Kirby of Dover and Richard D. Hurley and his wife Lotus and their daughter Audrey of Manchester NH. Brother of the late Ellen Connolly.
His funeral will be from the Eaton & Mackay Funeral Home 465 Centre St Newton Corner on Thurs Dec 10 at 9:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Church Newton Centre at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours Wed 4-7 PM. Interment Newton Cemetery.
