Patricia K. (Athy) Dunton, of Needham, MA passed away on December 12, 2016 after a long illness.
Beloved wife of the late Robert J. Dunton, daughter of the late John and Nora (Kilgariff) Athy; sister of the late Mary Robertson and Peggy Anderson. Loving mother of Nancy Dunton of Rockland, MA; Debbie and Roger Babson of Duxbury, MA, Laurie and Scott Farr of Hanover, NH; Lynn and Charlie Biss-Dunton of Middlebury, VT; Kathy and Bob Lombardi of Harwich, MA. Beloved grandmother to Noah Farr of Charlestown, MA; Norah Babson Davis of Sudbury, MA; Corey Farr of San Francisco, CA; Tucker Dunton Levy of Burlington, VT; Ian Babson of Plymouth, MA; Colin Farr of Lyme, NH; Patricia Babson of Quincy, MA; Emma Levy of Winooski, VT; Trevor Murphy of Norfolk, MA; Ali Biss of Brooklyn, NY; Andrew Biss of Winooski, VT. Beloved aunt to her many nieces and nephews. Pat and Bob moved to Needham in 1957 to raise their family. Pat's commitment to her family was her lifelong passions.
Among her accomplishments was the launch of a later-in-life career at Sunlife of Canada until her retirement. When Pat began volunteering at the Needham Counsel on Aging she made connections with new friends as well as renewing ties with many longtime pals. Local politics were always of interest to Pat. Throughout her life Pat celebrated her Irish heritage with pride and loved gatherings with her numerous aunt, uncles, and cousins. With her incredible smile, twinkling eyes, and quick wit Pat made a lasting impression on all whose lives she touched. She was one of the absolute all- time greats!
Visiting hours will be held in the Eaton Funeral Home, 1351 Highland Ave Needham, on Thursday, December 15th from 4-7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Bartholomew Church, 1180 Greendale Ave Needham, on Friday at 9:30 AM. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
