Pamela Lewis Awtrey, of Newton passed away peacefully on March 18, 2018 at her home surrounded by family after a five-month battle with cancer. She was 79.
Pam grew up as a child in Waban MA, Littleton MA, Reading, PA and for the past 45 years lived in Newton Mass. She held a Bachelor Degree from Albright College, a Masters Degree in Education from Tufts University and Masters Degree in Library Science from Simmons University. She loved her work as a reference librarian and continued her work at the Framingham library even after her diagnosis in the fall of 2017.
She was the beloved wife of Bernard (Tony) S. Awtrey Jr., the loving mother of Katherine FitzGerald and her husband Patrick of Needham and of Christopher Awtrey and his wife Sloane of Lincoln. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Madison, Connor and Coleman FitzGerald as well as Benjamin and Schuyler Awtrey. She was sister to Margaret Cantor of Portland Oregon.
Her funeral will be at the Church of the Redeemer, Chestnut Hill MA at 2PM on Saturday March 24. A reception in the parish hall will follow the brief service and interment.
