Mary Simms of Newton Upper Falls, Massachusetts passed away peacefully in her home on the morning of Saturday, February 18. Mary was born in Introdacqua, Italy, raised in Connecticut and settled in Newton for most of her adult life where she raised her five girls with her husband Jay. Mary was a feisty woman whose life was all about cooking and taking care of others. Much of her working career was spent cooking for the Priests at Mary Immaculate Rectory and the residents of The Stone Institute in Newton. Mary was happiest when she was feeding people and faithfully asked everyone the moment they entered her house: "Can I get you something to eat?" Mary is survived by all five daughters and their companions. Angela Simms and Joe Santiana of Lancaster, Pamela Simms and Jimmy Kennedy of Brighton, Mary Jaye Simms and her husband Daniel Coughlin of Los Angeles, Jacqueline Simms and Tim Gregorio of Los Angeles, and Shirley Simms and Troy Queen of Newton. Visiting hours will be held in the Eaton Funeral Home, 1351 Highland Ae, Needham, on Friday February 24th from 4-7PM. Relatives and friends are kindly invite to attend. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Mary Immaculate of Lourdes Church, 270 Elliot St Newton Upper Falls, on Saturday at 11AM. Interment will follow St. Mary's Cemetery, Needham. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary's name may be made to The Newton-Wellesley Hospital Charitable Foundation, 2014 Washington St, Newton, MA 02462.
