Mary (Shaughnessy) Benvie, of Ayer, passed away on Sunday, February 5th, at UMASS Memorial Medical Center in Worcester. She was 61 years old. Born in Brookline and raised in Needham, she was a daughter of the late Geneva (Goulette) and Ted Shaughnessy Sr. Mary was a graduate of Needham High School. She worked in the insurance business for many years. She then worked as a home health aide before working for funeral homes in Florida. Mary loved her family and was very family oriented. She was devoted to her daughters and grandchildren and her family. Mary was the family photographer. She loved taking pictures and loved spending time in Dexter Maine where the family has spent summers for over 50 years. Family was everything to her. She leaves behind her husband Steven Benvie of Ayer, her 3 daughters Denise Landry and Tony Delacono of Hanover, Geneva and her husband Jamie Bickford of South Deerfield and Kimberly and her wife Crystal Cook of Worcester. She was the sister of Susan and her husband Gordon Geary of Naples FL, Ted and his wife Marilyn Shaughnessy of Needham and Bill and his wife Ann Shaughnessy of Needham. Also survived by three grandsons Aaron Landry, David Bickford and Aiden Bickford of South Deerfield. Visiting hours will be held in the Eaton Funeral Home, 1351 Highland Ave Needham, on FRIDAY MORNING ONLY FROM 9:30 TO 11:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Bartholomew Church, 1180 Greendale Ave Needham on Friday, February 10th at 11:30 AM. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary's name may be made to the American Lung Association, 1661 Worcester Rd #301, Framingham, MA 01701.
