Maria DeRosa Corda, of Wellesley, passed away on Saturday, April 1st at Stone Institute in Newton Upper Falls.
The daughter of the late Sabatino and Concetta (Spinazola) DeRosa, Maria was born in Melito Irpino, Italy. At the age of seven she and her family moved to America. She grew up and went to school in Natick, MA. After graduating from Natick High School, she married Renzo "Larry" Corda, also of Italy. She and her husband moved to Wellesley and lived there for over 60 years. For a longtime she worked with her brother Victor DeRosa, who recently passed away, in the florist business. At the age of forty she embarked on another career, she worked for the Wellesley Public School Lunch Program and retired as the Program Director about 23 years later. Maria and her husband traveled extensively and sometimes brought some of their kids along. She and her husband loved to dance and entertain. Maria loved to walk. She had a passion, especially for her grandchildren, life and cooking. Maria and her husband were active members of the Italo American Club of Wellesley. For the past few years she went to the Friendship Circle, every Monday, which she looked forward to and enjoyed tremendously. She was a devout communicant of St Paul's Parish of Wellesley. Maria had an incredible Artistic eye for Floral Design. All her children and grandchildren treasure the handmade afghans she so lovingly crafted. She will be sorely missed by all.
The beloved wife for 61 years of the late Renzo 'Larry" Corda, she was the devoted and loving mother of Lawrence Corda and his wife Joan Constance Corda, Elaine Corda, Stephen Corda and his wife Carole, Gary Corda and his wife Kari and Victor and Amy Corda. She was the Grandmother of Matthew Corda and his wife Kelly, Laura Corda, Christopher Corda, Stephen Corda and his wife Lauren, Christina Corda, Kate Corda, Nicholas Corda, Geoffrey Corda, Sarah Corda, Caroline Corda, Kyle Corda, Kaylie Corda and Kristin Freedman and the Great Grandmother of Emeline Corda, Matthew Corda Jr and Ella Corda (due in May).

Visiting hours in the Eaton Funeral Home, 1351 Highland Ave, Needham, on Friday from 4-7 pm. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. A Mass of Christian burial will be held in St. Paul's Church, 502 Washington St., Wellesley, on Saturday, April 8th at 10 am. Interment at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Natick.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Maria's name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown MA 02472 or to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 60 Walnut St., Wellesley MA 02481.
