Manfred K. Hummel, of Newton Highlands formerly of Underhill VT died on June 3, 2018. He was 82.

Manfred was born in Leipzig, Germany and had lived in Vermont for 40 years before moving to Newton 12 years ago. He graduated from Spring Hill College in Mobile AL, and received master's degrees from Johns Hopkins and St. Michael's College. He taught English at Rice Memorial High School in So. Burlington, VT for 36 years. Manfred was a devoted father and husband, a helpful soul and a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity.

Beloved husband for 52 years of Margaret Parmelee Hummel. Loving father of Paul R. and his wife Jessica Greenfield of Newton, Thomas R. and his wife Rika Ochiai of Los Angeles, Peter M. and his wife Priya Shetty-Hummel of New York, NY and Maria M. Hummel and her husband Kyle Creason of Burlington VT. He is also survived by his nine grandchildren Hannah, Theo, Felix, Lukas, Aylie, Bowie, Bruce, Pari and Preet, and his brothers Ulrich and Gerwin both of Germany.

A funeral service will be held on Fri June 8 at 11 AM in at St. Paul's Episcopal Church 1135 Walnut St. Newton Highlands. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
