Mae Kouri George, 99, of Needham, MA, passed away on August 23rd, 2017 while holding the hand of her son Douglas.
She was born in 1918 in Worcester, MA into the large Lebanese family of Samuel Kouri and Alice Souda Kouri. She graduated from The Worcester Public Schools and married the late George F George in 1942. After living on many US Army bases during WW II they settled in Needham where they raised their family.
Mae was an exceptional homemaker and avid tennis player. She was gifted in sewing, knitting, painting and gardening. Her home was always filled with beloved family and friends. Her kindness, generosity, and quick wit will be missed.
Mae was pre-deceased by her husband, George, her son Alan, and her siblings: Adele Kouri George, Mitch Kouri, and Yvonne Kouri Akie. She is survived by her sons: Douglas (Linda), Kenneth (Elizabeth), Daughter-in-law Susan; siblings: Evelyn Kouri Ghiz, Pauline Kouri Nicholas, George Kouri; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and dozens of nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service and reception will be held at The Carter Memorial Methodist Church, 800 Highland Ave., Needham Heights, MA, 02494, on Wed, August 30th at 11 am. Interment will follow at a future date at The MA National Cemetery in Bourne, MA, next to her husband George. Donations may be made to The Carter Memorial Church at the above address.
