John "Jack" William Coppinger, Sr., an Army Air Corps Veteran of World War II, retired President and CEO of the Marden Wild Corporation, lifelong resident and active member of the Needham community passed away at the age of 91.
Jack was a steadfast member of the American Legion, a coach in the American Legion baseball league, member of the VFW, St. Bartholomew Dinner Club, and the Needham Senior Golf League at Norwood Country Club. He found respite spending time at his vacation home in East Falmouth with Alice. Jack was an avid sports fan at all levels.
The son of Edward and Anne (Jenks) Coppinger, Jack was predeceased by his beloved wife of 62 years, Alice (Anzivino) Coppinger. Jack was the loving father of Kathleen (Coppinger) Oelschlegel, and her husband Chris of Wells, Maine; Joseph Coppinger of Needham; Scott Coppinger and his wife, Laurie, of South Yarmouth, and the late son, John, Jr., and his surviving wife, Elaine, of Taunton. Jack was blessed with nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Jack's family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to the ICU staff at Beth Israel Hospital Needham for their compassionate care.
Visiting hours will be held in the Eaton Funeral Home, 1351 Highland Ave, Needham, on Friday, February 9th from 4-7 pm. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Bartholomew Church, 1180 Greendale Ave, Needham, on Saturday February 10th at 10 am. Interment with Military Honors to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
