John Joseph "Jackie" Murphy, died on December 22, 2016 at the Waban Health Center.
A lifelong Newton resident, Jackie was a graduate of Newton High, Michigan State University and a US Army veteran. Son of the late Raphael L. and Barbara (Norton) Murphy. Brother of Barbara M. Osborne of MD, Edward G. Murphy of VA, and the late Raphael L., Eileen Madden, Harold N., Joan Rousseau and Eleanor O'Brien. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. He will be remembered for his competitive spirit and five o'clock suppers.
A visiting hour will be held in the Eaton & Mackay Funeral Home, 465 Centre St., NEWTON CORNER, on Fri., Dec. 30 beginning at 9:30 AM followed by his Mass of Christine Burial in Our Lady Help of Christians Church at 10:30 PM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Interment Mass National Cemetery, Bourne at 1:30 PM
