John (Jack) Caffrey, 84, of Weston, Massachusetts passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 after a long and courageous battle with melanoma surrounded by his loving family.
Jack was a long-time resident of Needham and grew up in Newton Centre where he graduated from Newton North High School. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps., studied at Northeastern University in Boston majoring in Civil Engineering and worked at the U. S. Army Corp of Engineers for over 40 years.
He was an avid golfer and enjoyed all sports.
He is survived by his three children: Susan (Caffrey) Teperow of Dracut, MA, James M. Caffrey of Weston, MA and Dawn E. (Caffrey) Cox of Hopkinton, MA, daughter-in-law Rachael (McNamara) Caffrey of North Attleboro, MA and sister Jane (Caffrey) Wilson of Speedway, IN. He has two predeceased sons Sean J. Caffrey and Brian A. Caffrey,
as well as former wife, predeceased Maryann Caffrey. He will also be missed by his eight grandchildren: Samantha B. Teperow-Pilch, Noah B. Teperow, Katelyn M. Cox, Michael A. Cox, Hailey E. Cox, Justin R. McNamara, Sean J. Caffrey, and Shealyn R. Caffrey. He was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend to all.
Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00PM at Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave. Needham, MA on Monday, August 21, 2017. His Mass of Christian Burial will be in St. Bartholomew's Church in Needham on Tuesday, August 22 at 10:00AM followed by Interment with Military Honors at St. Mary's Cemetery.
