Herbert T. Barclay, of Newton, a longtime engineer at MIT Lincoln Labs, died on Sat Sept 2, 2017 at the Mass General Hospital in Boston. He was 70.
Herb was raised in Rockland and graduated from Cardinal Spellman High in Brockton. He went on to Northeastern University where he earned his graduate and master's degree. He was an engineer in adaptive optics at MIT Lincoln Labs since 1984. Herb enjoyed vacationing in Maine with his family and woodworking.
Herb was the beloved husband of Anne (Miskella) Barclay and loving father of John A. of VT, Alyssa M. Barclay of Basalt, CO and Crystal L. Barclay of Newto, the dear grandfather of Dean Curran and Chloe Curran, and brother of Mary Colacchio of Falmouth, John of SC and James of TX. Son of the late Herbert H and Margaret Barclay.
His funeral will be from the Eaton & Mackay Funeral Home 465 Centre St Newton Corner on Sat Sept 9 at 9:30 AM followed by his Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady Help of Christians Church at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours are Fri 4-8 PM. Interment Newton Cemetery.
