George F. Cullen, of Middleborough formerly of Newton on Feb 3, 2016. Loving husband of M. Patricia (Donovan) and the late Dorothy (Jefferson), son of the late George P. and Anna M. Cullen. Father of Patricia Tucker and her husband Walton of Newton, George and his wife Karen of Clermont, FL, Lawrence of Medway, and David and his wife Lynn of Burlington. Also survived by nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Late Director of Information Systems for the New England Telephone region of NYNEX. George served as a lieutenant on the former Newton Auxiliary Fire Department and served on the Newton Crime Commission under three mayors. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, the Newton Lodge of Elks, Nonantum Post 440 American Legion. George was a submarine veteran having served in the United States Naval Reserve Submarine Service from 1947-1952. He was a member of the United States Submarine Veterans, The Naval Submarine League, and was a life member of the Submarine Library and Museum. George was a frequent tour guide on the Submarine Lionfish at Battleship Cove in Fall River. In his retirement George was a volunteer in the emergency department at Massachusetts General Hospital.

A graduate of Boston College High School, class of 1948, he was a member of the Magis Guild and the 1863 Society. He was also a graduate of Northeastern University.

His funeral will be from the Eaton & Mackay Funeral Home 465 Centre St. Newton Corner on Tues Feb 9 at 9:30 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Church, Newton Centre at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours Mon 4-8 PM. Interment St. Joseph's Cemetery, West Roxbury.
