Francis W. Hofer 98, of Needham, March 1, 2017. Son of the late Walter M. and Gudrun (Hansen) Hofer. Father of Douglas W. Hofer. Frank was a graduate of Brookline High Scholl and he attended Boston University. He enlisted in the US Army in 1942 and served in both World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1952 with the rank of Captain. Mr. Hofer worked as a food broker for Weber and Hofer and was a member of the Boston Food Brokers Association and the Grocery Manufacturers Representatives of New England. He was a member of the American Legion Pishon Post that met at the Hotel Bradford in Boston. He was an avid Red Sox fan. A loyal member of the Needham Golf Club for over 70 years, Frank was a former member of the Board of Governors of the Needham Golf Club. A private graveside service with military honors will be held at Walnut Hills Cemetery in Brookline.
