Ethel M. Yukes, a lifelong Newton Corner resident and lifelong member of Grace Episcopal Church, born in the spring 1917 left this earth peacefully Oct 28, 2015.
Ethel enjoyed big band dancing with her husband, gardening, photography especially in nature, quilting and sewing. She made dozens of quilts for aids babies, made hospital gowns for OPERATION SMILE, and worked with the Newton Highland Woman's Club to raise money for college scholarships for Newton North and Newton South high school graduates. She belonged to the Newton Highlands Woman's Club, the Waltham Camera club and enjoyed YMCA senior aerobics.
Ethel was married for 49 years to Kenneth Yukes, who died in 1990. She is survived by her children Robert, Richard and Sandra, her grandchildren Jolene, Jay, Kimberly, Peter and Elise and her great grandchildren Katia, Ethan and Grant. She is also survived by her brother Samuel and several nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and great grand nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Fri Nov 6 at 10 AM in Grace Episcopal Church 76 Eldredge St Newton Corner followed by interment in Newton Cemetery. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours will be in the Eaton & Mackay Funeral Home 465 Centre St. Newton Corner on Thurs from 4-7 PM.
