Egidio S. "Gigs" Breda, 94 of Needham, MA, formerly of North Babylon, NY on December, 18, 2017. Predeceased by his wife Dorothy F. Beloved father to Wayne (Sarah) of Hope, Maine and Gary (Sandy) of Marstons Mills, MA. Cherished grandfather of Jesse, Ben, Lucia (Matthew) Tricomi, Marisa (Scott) Hirsch, Tamara, and Christian. Loved great grandfather of James, Jacob, Tanner, Charlotte, Katherine, and Caroline.
Born in Treviso Italy, he was the son of Gisella (Piccin) and Luigi Breda. Gigs enlisted in the United States Navy in 1942 and served in the Pacific during WWII. He received a BA from the State University of New York Oswego and a MA from Colombia University. Gigs taught industrial arts in the Bayshore NY Public School District until his retirement. He was an avid skier and a passionate gardener.
Family and friends may visit at the Eaton Funeral Home, 1351 Highland Avenue, Needham, MA on Thursday, December 21, 4:00-7pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 22 at Saint Joseph Parish, 1382 Highland Avenue, Needham, MA at 10:00 a.m. Interment at Pinelawn Memorial Park, Farmingdale, NY on December 27 at noon. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to support cancer research at Dana Farber Cancer Institute, PO Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284 or via www.dana-farber.org/gift.
