Edward Donovan of Newton, MA passed away peacefully on Sept 27, 2017.
He was the husband of 55 years to Eleanor R. (Curtis) Donovan. He was born in Boston, MA to William and Marcella (MacKinnon) Donovan. While in school he was a member of the Cathedral Choir. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1956 and was discharged in 1964 as a Staff Sergeant. While in the Air Force he was stationed in Goose Bay, Labrador; Rhein/Main AFB, Germany; and Langley AFB, Virginia. After discharge he settled in Newton and was employed by the U.S. Postal Service as a Postal Clerk until his retirement. He was a member of the DAV and Knights of Columbus 4th Degree. He was best known for his hard work ethic and undying love and dedication to his family. Cherished father of Elizabeth A. Donovan of Newton, MA, Kathleen M. Donovan and her fiancé, Frederick Stohlman, III of Mendon, MA, Edward M. (Ted) Donovan of Waltham, MA and Annmarie (Donovan) Salis and her husband Greg of Phoenix, AZ. Grandfather to Allan L. Ciccone, III and his fiancé, Andrea M. Ferguson, Joseph A. Ciccone, Caitlin M. Ciccone and her fiancé Christopher M. Connolly and Colleen M. Ciccone. Great Grandfather to Alessia M. Ciccone. Survived by his younger brother David Donovan of West Roxbury, MA. He is predeceased by his parents and siblings John Donovan, Margaret Karinska, Florence Daley, Christena Donovan, and Catherine Donovan. He is also pre-deceased by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Albert and Mary Curtis. He is survived by many nieces and nephews whom he adored.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wed Oct 4 at 10:30 AM in Mary Immaculate of Lourdes Church, Elliot St Newton Upper Falls followed by interment with Military Honors in St. Mary's Cemetery Needham. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours Tues from 4-8 PM in the Eaton & Mackay Funeral Home 465 Centre St Newton Corner.
