Barbara (Tasker) Jackson of Newton died on Thursday, January 19th, 2017 at the age of 83 after a long battle with cancer. Barbara was well travelled but the places closest to her heart were Martha's Vineyard and her home in Newton. In addition to travel and many other interests, she and her husband, Bill enjoyed socializing with many family and friends. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy. Barbara was much loved and appreciated for her kindness, graciousness and love of life. The light and joy that Barbara brought into our lives will never fade. She is survived by her husband Wilbur Kent (Bill) Jackson Sr., daughters Deborah and Sherry Jackson of Newton, MA and son, Kent Jackson and daughter-in-law Deanna Jackson of Saugus, MA. Grandchildren: Samaria, Kayla, Joshua, Samantha, Victoria and Jaeda. She is also survived by sisters Geraldine Layne of Nashua, NH, Roberta Battle of Somerville, MA and brothers Carlton Tasker of Somerville. She was also the sister of the late Theodore Tasker Jr. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Marilyn Tyler and Phyllis Jackson both of Rockland, MA and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Visiting hours will be held in the Eaton Funeral home, 1351 Highland Ave, Needham, on Thursday, January 26th from 4-7PM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Sacred Heart Church, 1321 Centre St, Newton Center on Friday at 10:30AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Barbara's name to Breast Cancer Research Foundation, 60 East 56th Street, 8th Floor, New York, NY 10022 or at the website bcrf@bcrfcure.org.
