Barbara M. Sedgwick passed away on July 5th, 2017 of a cardiac arrest. As Barbara Fader she graduated from Needham High School and went on to graduate from Columbia University with her Masters Degree. She married Reginald Sedgwick. In her life she took the path few had traveled, and had more than her fair share of adventures, a sequence of extraordinary experiences. Her bravery was unmatched, her intellect shown with brilliance and her love was unconditional and she would fight to the death for those she loved. Born in 1922, she was a rebel and adventurer for her time, living as a missionary, and traveling the world. In 1940, she joined the fewer than 4% of women who went to college. She comes from a generation that's mostly gone now. She was born during the age of the first radio stations and lived to the age of the first iPhone. Her first family car was a Packard. When she was young, they had a coal shoot in the basement where she shoveled coal into the furnace. Hers was a generation that blazed a path so others could follow. She fought tirelessly all her life for the underdog. She worked for the schools of Danbury Conn, as a social worker until she retired and moved back to Needham. She is survived by many nieces and nephews, her sister Carol Edney and her son Maya Sedgwick. To share memory of Barbara, please visit www.eatonfuneralhomes.com
