Arthur R. Foster, of Fox Hill Village Westwood, formerly of Braintree, passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at the Stanley R. Tippett Hospice Home in Needham. He was 92 years old. Born in Boston, he was the son of Francis J. and Helen A. (Rowe) Foster. Arthur was a US Navy World War II Veteran. He was a graduate of Tufts University and earned his Master's Degree from Yale University. Mr. Foster was a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Northeastern University, retiring in 1989. He was very proud to have taught in Ecuador and Columbia as a Fulbright Scholar. A lifelong stamp collector, in his retirement he ran a small stamp business. Mr. Foster was very active civically in Braintree. He was a Town Meeting member of many years and also serves on many various town committees. Arthur enjoyed playing tennis and bridge. He was the beloved husband of the late Nettie C. (Pease) Foster and father of Jackson Foster and his wife Allisyn Furano of Newton and Cindy Foster-Clark and her husband Fred Foster-Clark of Millersville, PA. Grandfather of Camryn and Madelyn Foster and Katlyn Falls and Devin Foster-Clark. Great grandfather of Kallan, Solomon and Damian. He also leaves his sister Alice Shaw of Needham. A Memorial Service will be held at First Parish Needham, 23 Dedham Ave, Needham on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 11:00 am. Relatives and friends kindly invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations in Arthur's name may be made to the Stanley R. Tippett Home, 920 South St., Needham MA 02492. \
