Tribute & Message From The Family

Tedoldi, Betsy Ann (McCurran) of Needham, February 12, 2018. Born and raised in Xenia Ohio to James and Betty McCurran on September 9, 1929. After graduating from high school in Xenia, her family relocated to Waban then Wellesley where she met and married William J. A. Tedoldi, with whom she shared 62 years, until his death in 2017. Moving to Needham in 1956, Betsy was always active in the Needham community in many capacities. Her career started as a nursery school teacher at the YMCA and continued to be known as "Mrs. T". Following that she opened a gourmet food shop, "Cheese Etc" on Chestnut Street and became known as the "Gummybear lady". She served as a director of the Needham Business Association for many years and its president for two. Betsy was a founder of the infamous "Souper Bowl" competition that still remains a popular staple of the NBA's fall harvest street fair. After a decade of running a successful business, Betsy sold the shop when State Rep. Ellen Canavan handpicked her as her legislative assistant to work at the State House. Betsy went on to be a real estate broker for more than 20 years. An avid volunteer, she was elected to the Board of the Council on Aging, serving a term as its chair. Betsy was on the committee that was responsible for finding the new location for the senior center. Additionally, she was an elected Town Meeting member, serving in that capacity for over a quarter century. Betsy leaves behind her beloved children: James W. Tedoldi and his wife Sue,of Bow, NH, and Michael R. Tedoldi and his wife Marilyn, Susan J. Tedoldi and Mary Kate Tedoldi, all of Needham. She was the loving grandmother of Cameron, James Charles and his wife Julianne, Meghan, Jordan, Laura, Brian, Mark and Robert; and great grandmother of Cameron and Brayden.

Our condolences to the Tedoldi family. We have such fond memories of our years as neighbors in Orchard Cove. We loved looking across to see Betsy sitting out on her favorite deck and her warm wave as she went by in her boat. Love to you all, Janis and Bill
