Robert B. Morrison, age 96, died Thursday evening at his home after a prolonged battle with Parkinson's Disease. Mr. Morrison is survived by his sister, Mary Dexter and husband Harold of Gilford, NH and his three children: John R. Morrison and wife Carol of Moncks Corner, SC; Ann D'Agostino and husband David of Franklin, MA; and Roy C. Morrison and wife Debra of Westborough, MA. Five grandchildren also survive him; Melanie D'Agostino of Blackstone, MA; Elena Blanchard and husband Jeremy of Uxbridge, MA; Lydia D'Agostino of Louisville, KY; Krista Morrison of Westborough, MA; and Kyle Morrison of Clemson, SC; in addition to three great grandchildren; Mia and Austin Blanchard and Noah Morrison. He is proceeded in death by Mary Skene Morrison his beloved wife of 64 years. Robert grew up in Saugus, MA and attended Parsonsfield Seminary School in Parsonsfield, ME. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the onset of WWII and served in the Pacific as a Pharmacists Mate during the entire Guadalcanal campaign. Later in the war he was stationed in Guam and completed his naval service in 1948. Robert went on to earn a degree in Business Administration from Boston University. The U.S. Postal Service employed him for 30 years and he retired in 1990. Robert was very active in his church and served for many years as treasurer. He strongly supported youth sports, while coaching Little League Baseball and Church League Basketball as well as assisting with a local Boy Scout Troop. He and his wife Mary enjoyed travelling and exploring investment opportunities. They both donated generously to numerous local and national charities. He was an avid Boston sports fan who followed closely the seasons of the Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics, and Bruins. Robert especially enjoyed hearing of the accomplishments of his children and his many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren and kept close tabs on their activities. His friends and family will remember him for his fun-loving nature, cheerfulness, and his fondness for the people around him. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, July 5th at Second Congregational Church, West Newton. Visitation will begin at 10 AM. Burial will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.
