Tribute & Message From The Family

Anne Elizabeth Milligan of Needham passed away at home on April 25, 2017. Anne is survived by her family: brother William Milligan and his wife Jane of Whitinsville; and her nephew Kenneth F. Milligan and his wife Cathleen along with their children Meagan and Alex, all of Shrewsbury. Born in Boston August 16, 1938, she was the daughter of Frederick R. and Marjorie E. (Robbins) Milligan. She lived several years in Quincy, Westwood, and Kenmore, NY, but lived fifty-nine years in Needham. Anne attended public schools in Westwood, graduating in 1956. Her interest in nursing led her to attend and graduate from Buffalo General Hospital School of Nursing in 1959. Subsequently she attended Boston University and Boston College earning a Bachelor's and a Master's Degree in Nursing. She was a nursing instructor at both Faulkner as well as Deaconess Hospitals. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading, and many different kinds of needlework, but some of her favorite times were taking her nephew on trips to Disney World, Alaska and Cape Cod. Quilting became her passion and she was a member of the Quinobequin Quilters, the Bayberry Quilters of Cape Cod and Sew 'n Sew Fiber Arts. Anne appreciated all animals, domestic as well as wild, but she cherished her West Highland Terriers most of all. A Mass of Christian Burial for Anne will be held on Thursday, June 8, at 10am at St. Joseph's Church, 1362 Highland Avenue, Needham. In lieu of flowers contributions in her memory can be sent to Westie Rescue of New England, Inc., 10 South Washington Street, Norton, MA 02766.

Condolence & Memory Journal

Anne you were a wonderfully kind person and neighbour who helped so much, especially in my father's last year. Your kindness will not be forgotten, thank you and rest peacefully.

I had the privilege of having Anne as a friend and financial planning client for over 30 years.
I will always remember Anne for her wit, kindness and keen understanding of investments and financial planning. As I always told her, if she wasn't an excellent nurse, she would have been an outstanding financial advisor.
We will all miss you, Anne. May you rest in peace

Ann and I worked at Deaconess Hospital and we also shared the same hairdresser in Needham. When I retired, Ann introduced me to quilting. My first endeavor was making a quilt for my grand-daughter, and Ann was diligent and patient in helping me have it ready for my grand-daughter's birthday. She introduced me to the ladies quilting at Button Box in Wellesley where I made wonderful friends and enjoyed many happy hours of quilting She stopped frequently on her way to the Needham town disposal area. Whenever I was stuck on a project, Ann always came to the rescue. I was having difficult trying to quilt my latest creation and on my "to-do list" on the day she died was, "Call Ann for help". She would have come right over. I will truly miss Ann, as will Bill, who also enjoyed her visits, reminiscing about his days in Engineering at Deaconess when he would take care of her operating instruments. Ann is with our Lord now, probably sewing away in Heaven, and helping others.
