Joyce A (Carmel) Laslo of North Reading, MA, formerly of Newton and Bennington, VT, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2016 after a long illness.
Born on March 6th, 1930, Joyce was the fifth child of George and Bertha Mary Rose Carmel. Joyce graduated from Newton High School in 1949, and began a secretarial career. After her marriage to John Laslo in 1955, Joyce lived briefly in North Adams, MA before settling with her family in North Bennington, VT. Joyce was employed as an Administrative Assistant with the Superior Court in Bennington for many years and enjoyed the pace of court activities.
After retirement, she moved to Milford, MA where she enjoyed frequent visits with her three beloved sisters - Lorraine, June and Joanne. Joyce was a skilled seamstress and an excellent cook and baker. She loved the stars and would often settle outside to view the summer night sky with her telescope. Born in the city, Joyce loved the peace and beauty of the countryside. She loved music and had a beautiful singing voice. Joyce was a warm and compassionate person who saw the best in everyone she met.
Joyce is survived by her daughter Joanne and son-in-law Christopher Grieco, her daughter Susan Laslo, her grandson Kevin Grieco and his wife Toni, her granddaughter Cara and her husband Austin Morrison, her sisters Lorraine Pierce, June Carmel and Joanne Santucci, her brothers Leo Carmel and Richard Carmel, and many nieces and nephews. Joyce was predeceased by her brothers George Carmel, Earl Carmel, Paul Carmel and Roger Carmel.
Family and friends will honor and celebrate Joyce's life by gathering for calling hours at the Eaton & Mackay Funeral Home, 465 Centre Street in Newton on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 from 4 – 7 PM. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 10:30 AM at Our Lady Help of Christians in Newton.

To Joyce's family and friends,

We are so sorry to hear of Joyce's passing. We were her neighbors in North Bennington and have very fond memories. She is in a better place, keep your memories of her in your hearts.
